Kane, an ambitious young squirrel, was looking forward to his first Moon High gathering as a Kin. Having endured the life of being a Kit for five years he was now a Kin and he had dreams of becoming a Fang Warrior like his mentor, Drone. Excited for his first gathering he clumsily makes his way to the meeting place with his tribe.
Being a bit shy, Kane takes his time getting to know his fellow Kins, but it doesn't take too long before he is mixing in with the group. Squirrels are notorious for their vanity so the first thing the Kins do is begin to show each other their unique markings. Kane's is the most unique of all earning him the nickname Super Squirrel. He doesn't yet know how prophetic that would become.
Suddenly, things turn frightening when the Hawk King, Golden Blood, and his troops descend upon the gathering. They bring news of an enemy no one seems to be able to fight. A disease is spreading and killing off the animal species and the only ones yet to be stricken are the squirrels. The Hawk King's anguish over his dying mate causes him to place a do or die task in front of the squirrels. According to the Oracle, only the squirrels with the snake blood marking will find the cure. They must complete this Quest by the next high moon or the hawks will destroy the squirrel tribes.
Because of his unique markings Kane accepts the Quest along with his mentor Drone. Joined by Anne, an agressive girl squirrel from another tribe the unlikely heroes begin their journey. What dangers will Kane and his friends face on this Quest? Will they find the cure before the Hawk King destroys the entire tribe? What if the true danger is within Kane himself?
